Nadia Knuckles was born on a Wednesday afternoon in the early ‘90’s. Nadia’s mother was a short blonde woman with big curly hair named Janet from Fresno, California and their father was a tall French man named Pierre. Nadia’s parents were initially stuck trying to figure out a name for their daughter, since Janet didn’t want her child to share the same name as someone who Pierre had previously slept with. Pierre had apparently slept with a lot of women, because she’d rattle off names like “Colette! Yvette? Andrea?” and Pierre would have to glumly apologize and encourage another suggestion. Finally, after a long list of names, Janet  landed on “Nadia”- “Alors! I don’t know ANYONE named ‘Nadia’!” exlaimed Pierre. Following French Catholic tradition, the new parents swiftly held baptism the next week, and three of Pierre’s ex girlfriends showed up, each named Nadia. One of them, Nadia Mekki, Pierre had apparently dated for three years and had completely forgotten about. They were all delighted to meet the baby but Janet was livid as Pierre sheepishly hid in the corner for the rest of the service.

Nadia is currently based in San Francisco and is part of the art collective SoftGentlePancake with Faith Arazi and Andrew Hamed.
